The Government Sanskrit College was established in Sikkim in the year 1997 at Gyalshing (West Sikkim).Since its inception, it has been affiliated to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University, Varanasi, U.P.
Later, it was shifted to Samdong (East) Sikkim in its own registered land. The total area of the College is 18 Acres with a built up area of 2914 Sq. mtr. The College is situated in a pristine beauty of Nature facing towards Mt. Khanchendzonga, “the Guardian Deity of Sikkim”. The major Subjects taught in this Institution are Sanskrit papers along with Hindi,Nepali and English. This is an exceptional Institution imparting Sanskrit education in the entire North- East covering Darjeeeling, Kalimpong and Nepal as well. The College strictly follows the curriculum framework of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University. The classes are run from Purva Madhyama to Sastri level (classes IX, X, XI XII and Sastri 1st, 2nd and 3rd under Upsastri and Sastri at UG level as per approved curriculum of SSVV, Varanasi (UP). The entire curriculum framework is related to preserve and conserve the oldest language of the world i.e Sanskrit having a continuous history of nearly 5000 years.
Hence, the college is committed to the need of society in creating quality human resources for the coming generation. In this regard, the dedicated work being done by the IQAC members and parent department for NAAC Accreditation is highly appreciated.
Further, I appreciate the beauty of work being done by the members of staff for holistic development of the students in molding their character and skill development as well.
